I'm a hurting gal!

Hubby and I could stand to lose a few pounds... In Aug we want to take a road trip through to Texas (hey gotta scope out where I want to practice right!) and we BOTH want to be in shape and comfortable wearing summer clothing - including beach wear.

So my BFF had a baby 6 months ago and she found this exercise program and has been working it for the last 90 days - that's how long the program is.... it's called bikini body mommy....

and MAN is a doozer. We did it for two days and spent the next two barely able to walk. We're not on day four and I'm scared to go and look to see what we have to do! But I promised him that if HE stuck with it, so would I. So we've been exercising together mainly and when we aren't we've been doing it seperately then calling the other once we do it so that we are accountable to each other. I promised him I wouldn't lie about not doing it (curious as to why he thinks I would because I don't lie to him). So I'm hoping that by Aug we drop a bunch of weight.... I would be happy even with inches lost so long as it's a lot of them!

I'm definately not ready to post any sort of pics, maybe when we're done with it perhaps? We'll see.

On a different note....

Yesterday we celebrated little tykes birthday - let me tell you, she was one excited girl!!!!!!!!

The evening before, I put little tyke to bed and waited to make sure that she was asleep and then we decorated the house in her honor. Let me tell you, when she woke up in the morning she was BEAMING!!!!!!!!!! She ran into the bedroom, into my arms and exclaimed "Mommy, I'm 5, I'm 5!!!!" It was incredibly precious. Then she proceeded to tell me about all the decorations and how some of the balloons had her name on them. Ya she was stoked to say the least! Totally made all the effort worth it! I'll have to post some pics though, she was so happy and so was everyone else. She is a VERY loved child!

Not just an ordinary infection

So a week's worth of pain, once I got back home the next day I had an appointment with my surgeon.

Turns out I have a NEW abcess. UGH! When I knew that I was right, I started crying. I was FINALLY starting to heal (somewhat anyways) or at least experiencing less pain, I go two steps backwards.

I knew from talking to the surgeon's receptionist that he wasn't back in his clinic for almost a month and so I asked when he was on-call again at the hospital. Figured that if I had to have an incision & drainage (I&D) that I would prefer to have MY surgeon do it. Turns out he was on-call that very same day.

I just had to head to the hospital while he was on-call. Then once there I had to wait another 2 1/2 hours for him to show up.

He was able to do the procedure and while he tried to be more empathetic and caring - I requested morphine so he gave me 4mg SC of it. And he tried to make sure I was good and frozen. Ya it didn't help much. Holy hell did it hurt!!! Then he gave me another 4mg of the morphine post procedure considering I was crying it hurt so much.

Now two days out, the surgeon actually called me this morning to ask how I was doing!!! How sweet eh?! I guess I must have made a bit of an impression. LOL

I have to see him again Monday for a follow-up. I also have to have home-care though in a clinic to pack the wound. Hurt the last time so I don't expect anything different this time around.

Surgeon says he won't know whether a fistula formed for another week or two. My goodness I hope and pray I didn't.

Oh my back doc, what are we going to do?!

So about a month back I was turning an obese pt by myself, ya I know, stupid, but the ppl I was working with were also super busy so there wasn't anyone I could really ask for assisstance. When I turned this pt, I hear a pop in my back but nothing hurt so I just went along my merry little way. Give it a couple of days and yeppers by back started to hurt. Well just before we went to Cuba I couldn't take the pain anymore and went to a chiropractor. He helped decrease my pain so at least I could function and I followed it up with a massaage, and did this at least once a week until last week when I got sick with a sinus cold and a chest infection. Well just when the sinus and chest starts to look like I'm out of the clear, my back kicks up in over gear.

I went to my Dr who says that I need an x-ray (chiropractor thinks I have a L5/S1 disc herniation) so I went and did that yesterday and follow up next Tuesday and in the meantime I'm hitting the couch and muscle relaxants hard. Part of me hopes it is cuz then there's a legitimate reason my back hurts so much and the other part hopes it isn't cuz that would suck hard!

Guess we'll see on Tuesday.
