It's taken 8 months but no baby out of it

I get to go back to work this week. I've been out of work for 8 months. Such a long period of time. And I don't even get a baby out of the deal. Bummers!

I'm looking forward to it. To getting back in the groove of things. Plus I seem to get the weird and crazy stuff. I'm ok with that as long as I don't get the weird and crazy patients. I hope we have a good set of hospitalists - the ones who will actually listen to nurses.

I can't wait to start using my skills again. The only down fall is that I won't have as much time for my readings, my assignments, and my tests/exams. I'm actually starting back at the work time because I have a MASSIVE exam due by friday afternoon, 2 quizzes that are killers and two major papers. I should be stressed out more than I am - maybe I just don't know any better.

One thing that's frustrating for me is that I'm not getting many marks back from the courses. I've done two assignments in the one course and haven't gotten any marks back - and they've been completed for like 3 wks so I would expect results by now. I don't really have any choice but to wait.... I hate waiting though.

Semester One DOWN... 7 more to go!

Did my last exam today, got 90% on it YAAAAAAAY... would have gotten 92% but I read one question wrong and realized it after I submitted it and this teacher doesn't let you go back to check over your answers so you really only get one shot. Plus her questions are EACH worth 2% - shitty IMO

Plus the way she sets up her course, you have to get 75% on your tests/quizzes (minimum) AND on your paper/clinical stuff. Then so long as you get over 75% on both then you factor them together and divide by 1/2 = your actual grade. So this can be tricky because if you fuck up a couple of times on your tests/quizzes then you are seriously screwed! Also, this program only allows you to do each course twice so you have to make sure you're careful or you're out! You can tell that this isn't necessarily easy since this class had DOUBLE the # of students as the other course I took = way harder course!!!

So me passing this course means that much more to me cuz obviously not everyone makes it through, only the strong ones.... which equals me!!!!!!

Now I get to go send off an email saying I want to register for some spring semester courses - YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY

Ending of my first semester - EXAM TIME!!!!!!!!!

I have til the end of this week to complete my exams. I did my first one tonight.

I got 98%!!!!!!!! WOWZERS am I excited and proud. Couldn't have done it without my husband! This exam was all about pharmacology, there was very little gray area so I wasn't too worried about it, my OTHER exam I'm a tad more worried.

I'll take my second exam tomorrow (at least that's the plan!) Wish me luck!

NCLEX-PN - wish me luck!

This week is rather a biggie - I take my NCLEX-PN exam.

So now hubby wants me to do the practice exams. That's what tomorrow is going to consist of.

Then tomorrow night, we head to Niagara falls to have a romantic (less so considering we have to bring the 3 1/2 yr old with us as no one can watch her while we're gone) night away and then I do my exam on Thursday morning.

I have to admit, I'm not as nervous to take this one. I think it's because I've been working and been able to see quite a few different disease processes and diagnoses and such. I feel like because of the experience with working, I have more knowledge from the "real" world and not just the one that lives in side text books. Anyone else see it that way?

I sure hope I pass this on one try, I'll certainly feel really defeated if I don't!

I'm coming home

I came home today. It was SUPER sad to leave my son and my mom. I loved having the two weeks away but as always, it was nice to come home. The two weeks FLEW by (doesn't it always?!)

Tomorrow I'm back at the grind. I have to get back into super study mode. I'm set to do my exam for sunday. I have to work Thurs, Fri, Sat evenings. It's always interesting to see the unit after quite a bit of time off because there's hardly anyone there that was when you went off. You start back at the beginning.

Speaking of beginning, I am starting there again with my work outs. I'm going back to the gym starting tomorrow. As soon as hubby gets back from work, then I'll leave to go to the gym. I need to loose some of this weight that I have that's not very healthy. Ahhhhhh to have goals!!!
